Scheduled for completion in mid-2017, the $109M development has resulted from the City acquiring major funding support from the State and Federal Governments, as well as fostering close collaborations with the Fremantle Football Club and Curtin University.

The project commenced in July 2015 and is due for completion in mid 2017.

The need for a high quality aquatic and recreation centre to service the growing community was first identified by the City of Cockburn back in 2009. With a rapidly growing population and existing leisure facilities reaching the end of their lifespan, the City decided to create a unique facility for the community at Cockburn Central West.

The resulting project is one of the largest developments of its kind in Australia. Not only will the centre provide state-of-the-art aquatic and recreation facilities, it will also be the new home of the Fremantle Football Club.

A comprehensive community consultation process resulted in Cockburn ARC being chosen as the name for the new centre.

Cockburn ARC’s first-class sport and recreation facilities and programs will inspire the community to lead healthy and active lives all year round. Employing more than 250 staff, the centre will cater for the recreation activities of thousands of residents from across Perth’s southern metropolitan corridor. Importantly, visitors will have easy access to the centre and nearby activity hub of Cockburn Central via public transport and the Kwinana Freeway.
